Camping Trout Creek Scamander

Fabulous bush camping, fish Upper Scamander Trout Creek Reserve suitable for tent camping, small caravans, campervans, and 4WD camper trailers. The last 6-8 kilometres of road to the Trout Creek campground Upper Scamander is in extremely poor condition, with large potholes, and narrow and graded roads making it not suitable for large rigs such as large campervans and motorhomes. The Trout Creek campground, Upper Scamander on the East Coast of Tasmania offers free camping in a bush setting and is located app. 14-kilometres from Scamander and is accessed from the signposted turnoff near the small settlement of Beaumaris. The only facilities at Trout Creek are basic pit toilets, a couple of picnic tables, and a few scattered fire pits. You will need to carry your own food, fresh drinking water, and firewood. This isn’t a massive campsite, but offers great camping right next to the Scamander River and also camping further back from the river on a grassed area closer to the toilets. Pets are OK if kept under control at all times – the area does get busy on weekends during warmer months. It takes a fair bit of effort to get to Trout Creek but is well worth the effort.
