Friendly Beaches Campground

The Friendly Beaches campground is a very popular and attractive campsite located app. 8 kilometres off the Tasman Highway A3 on Friendly Beaches Road, which is accessed of the C302 Coles Bay Rd (C302). Look for the signpost on your left-hand side when travelling towards Coles Bay. Friendly Beaches Road is a fairly good gravel road, but care should be taken with big rigs as the road is narrow and rough in places – please also take care with wildlife especially around dawn and dusk. A Tasmanian Parks & Wildlife National Parks pass is required to access Friendly Beaches – there are no additional costs to camp at Friendly Beaches campground. This campsite is located immediately adjacent to a long, beautiful sandy white beach that you can walk on for extended distances in both directions. If you are lucky you may see a White Bellied Sea Eagle which nest in this area of the Freycinet National Park. The campsite has app. 25 designated camping areas and is suitable for all forms of camping – some sites are reserved for tent-only camping. This campsite is extremely busy over the Christmas New Year period, through until Easter. There are pit toilets at Friendly Beaches, but no other facilities. There is a caretaker located on-site at all times who will check that you have a valid National Parks Pass. The maximum stay at Friendly Beaches is 2-weeks. Bookings cannot be made – the campsite is on a first-come, first-served basis. Be aware that if the campsite is full, there are limited other options in this region.
