Myrtle Park Campground

The Myrtle Park campground Tasmania is located in a large wooded and open grassed site on the banks of the St Patricks River. The Myrtle Park campground has unpowered sites, good amenities and is suitable for large caravans, motorhomes, big rigs. There are barbecues onsite and takeaway food is available from the shop on site. Myrtle Park is situated app. 35 kilometres from Launceston and 30 kilometres from Scottsdale. The campground Myrtle Park is very popular with locals. This attractive camping area is set alongside the St Patricks River in the small town of Targa, being app. halfway between Launceston and Scottsdale on the Tasman Hwy (A3). All the family will enjoy the playground, ample grounds to run around in, and for a game of tennis. There is a small kiosk on site, but it is recommended you take your own food. Bookings are recommended for those wanting to reserve a site with a fireplace. Free hot showers, free electric barbecue. Fires are allowed in existing fireplaces or in firepots; firepots are available for hire from the onsite caretaker and always check local fire rules as bans may be in place. Mrytle Park campground is a popular low-cost camping area maintained by the Launceston City Council. Facilities are generally very good, modern, and clean and there is typically a good family atmosphere where the kids can run around and have a great time playing football, soccer, or other sports. There are excellent opportunities for swimming in the adjacent river however it isn’t recommended during cooler months as the water can be very cold. If you are a fisherman, pack the fishing rod as there are good opportunities to catch a trout in the St Patrick’s river. Kayakers will enjoy the Myrtle Park campsite, even though sections of the river are narrow and not very deep.
