Camping Petal Point

Camping Petal Point, Rushy Lagoon Cape Portland North East tip Tasmania, access from Gladstone or Ansons Bay. Free camping, non-powered sites only suitable for big rigs, campervans, camper trailers, caravans, and tents. Dogs allowed but must be kept on a lead at all times, under control and on formed tracks. Facilities are very basic, a pit toilet only so you will need to carry your own water, food, and firewood. This campground is most exposed to regular, very strong north-westerly winds. There are a few sheltered spots further away from the water, that are suitable for tent camping but make sure your tent is well-secured or it will blow away. There is an opportunity to go beach fishing at Petal Point. Petal point camping is near the Mt William National Park but is not in the park itself. The wind turbines at Cape Portland, and near the Petal Point campground are spectacular. There are 54 turbines, each 80 metres high and with blades 44 metres long.
